Commemorating New Jersey’s 350th Anniversary in 2014

The official commemoration in Hudson County of the 350th anniversary of the State of New Jersey is scheduled for Saturday October 18, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. The location is the Student Union building of NJCU, 2039 Kennedy Blvd in Jersey City. Free parking is available(enter on Custer Ave.), and the NJCU cafeteria will be open for lunch. A wide range of historical items will be displayed by the many participating organizations. Several prominent local historians will speak on items that have relevance to New Jersey and Hudson County. They are:

Holly Metz, author of Killing the Postmaster

Stephen Hart, author of The Last Three Miles

John Gomez, autkor of Legendary Locals of Jersey City

Neal Brunson, Director, Afro-American Historical Society Museum

Cynthia Harris, Director, New Jersey Room at the Public Librtary

Joseph Bilby, Civil War era consultant and author

Additioally you can have portable, personal, historical items profesionally appraised by an expert, sorry no jewelry.
