Abraham Lincoln passed through Jersey City four times. First while campaigning to go to Cooper Union in Manhattan, second on his way to his inauguration, third to confer with General Winfield Scott at West Point during the Civil War, and finally in his funeral cortege.

The location where he stopped was the railroad terminal called Exchange Place on the shore of the Hudson River. In conjunction with the City of Jersey City, the Lincoln Association will determine a proper place for a plaque at Exchange Place as part of the Association’s commemoration of its 150th year.
